Leveraging the absolute value

You can hack the perceived value by increasing your numbers, what you can’t hack is the absolute value.

Now how you will you grow your absolute value?

Learn and unlearn.

Learning is drived by emotion. Your best state of learning is when you are under pressure, fear, anger. Higher the magnitude of emotion, faster will be the learning process.

In complete 4 years of my engineering, I have always completed the syllabus one night before the exam, although I was used to allot 15–16 days for the same. The factor which motivated to learn faster was fear of getting a back.

Now when we know how to speed up the process, let’s see some external factors which can act as a catalyst in our learning process.

Learning from unconventional sources :

  • Instagram pages — I have multiple Instagram accounts, just for learning purposes. What I usually do is, let’s say I want to learn react js, I would make a new account on Instagram and follow all the people related to this niche, just by going into hashtags and following the top most people or if I somehow discover some really goood page in the explore. And then for the whole month or two, this account will be my primary account. Now this account is only for consumption of knowledge, which I call as inhalation. Here I don’t exhale, i.e. put out count. Motivation for following this method is a simple quote — Garbage in Garbage out. So, if we reduce the amount of garbage consumption, we can definitely accelerate the learning process. Why Instagram, you’ll ask. I really like this new trend on Instagram of putting out carousels or Bebas Neue league or some people call it byte sized learning. Though there is abundance of content with this strategy but this is on any platform, as Weiner calls it the Niagara of Information. Now your job is to dynamically scrutinize the pages whose content is not up to the mark, so that you can minimize the junk in your feed. And you are done, start consuming it.
  • Discord groups — go on discord and explore the technology or topic you want to learn. You will surely find some amazing servers related to them. So join them and start interacting with the experts, you’ll learn all the best practices and will also get to learn advance concepts.

Learning from conventional sources :

  • YouTube — Everything is available for free
  • Blogs — I hope after reading this blog, one thing is confirmed, that you are in love with blogs 😝

Don’t follow people with massive following and massive reach. Now this is gross generalization, I know, but this is a digital trend which generally creators follow — dilute the content so that it can reach masses, and you need to consume the decocted content.

Learning fast can only be achieved if it is hammered with perfect quality of content.
